Welcome To Field Notes
THE GROUND
Most men don't need more information.
We've heard the sermons. We've saved the posts, bookmarked the podcasts, and bought the books we meant to finish. We know a lot. And yet Monday morning still comes. The marriage still needs work. The kids still need a father who's actually present. The job still tests our integrity. And the temptation we swore off last month is still knocking.
MensMinistry.online started after an Act Like Men simulcast. When the event ended, men kept asking the same question: Where do I go from here? Where do I find more?
Field Notes is part of the answer. It isn't another pile of content for you to admire and forget. It's a place to come back to, read something true, and leave with something to do.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
THE TRUTH
James doesn't say hearing is bad. He says hearing alone is a lie we tell ourselves. A man who listens without acting thinks he's growing when he's standing still. James compares him to a man who looks in a mirror, walks away, and forgets what he looks like (James 1:23–24).
The cure isn't more listening. It's obedience. Faith that never moves your feet isn't the kind of faith James is talking about (James 2:17).
That's why we built Field Notes. Every post is written to be lived, not just read. Here's what you can count on each time you visit:
• One truth per post. Not ten points. One thing worth carrying out the door.
• Scripture is the authority. If an idea can't stand under the Word of God, it doesn't get in (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
• Real life, not theory. Every post falls under one of five areas: Marriage, Fatherhood, Work, Faith, and Brotherhood. Use the buttons at the top of the page to go straight to the one you need.
• A Field Work step, every time. Each post ends with one concrete action for the week. That's the point of the whole thing.
• Short enough to finish. Most posts take about five minutes, the same as an Every Day Carry episode.
• Straight talk. We're a young, self-funded ministry, and we won't pretend to be more. The men writing here are in the field too, working out the same things you are.
Field Notes is one tool in the kit. Every Day Carry gives you five minutes in the Word each weekday. The Sharpening brings one email a week with one clear action. Win the Fight gives you focused help for specific battles. And the Calendar and Near You pages exist to get you into the room with other men, especially in a local church. None of this replaces that. Online is the front door, not the finish line (Hebrews 10:24–25).
"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17). That's what we're here for. Welcome.
FIELD WORK
Pick the one area where you've been hearing but not doing: marriage, fatherhood, work, faith, or brotherhood. Write down one specific action you'll take this week. Then tell one man what it is and ask him to check on you by Sunday.
PRAY
Lord, I've heard plenty. Make me a doer of Your Word. Show me the one place I've been standing still, and give me the courage to move. Put brothers around me who will sharpen me, and make me that kind of man for them. In Jesus' name, amen.
